Panasonic Set to Purchase A.I. Firm Blue Yonder

Japanese electronics titan, Panasonic, has today announce the purchase of the American supply chain A.I. company Blue Yonder. in a bid to enhance and improve its logistics operations by using Blue Yonder’s state of art software.

This purchase improves the Panasonic as well as Blue Yonder existing connection, which began in January 2019 with a collaboration, followed by the development of a joint venture vehicle, in Japan in November 2019. Panasonic then acquired an initial 20 percent risk in Blue Yonder in July 2020 will now buy the remaining shares for $7.1 billion from existing investors to gain full ownership.

Blue Yonder creates software solutions built using artificial intelligence (A.I.) and machine learning engines to improve logistics in clients’ supply chains. Its customers include Caterpillar Inc. and Coca Cola and it had sales in excess of $1 billion in 2020.
